Summary

A developer has launched an AI-powered tool that automatically generates YouTube video timestamps and chapter markers using speech analysis to detect topic changes. The tool significantly reduces editing time by providing suggested chapters that users can refine before publishing. This innovation highlights AI’s growing role in streamlining content creation workflows and invites feedback to further improve accuracy and usability.

Hi HN I’m a developer and YouTuber, and I recently built a small tool to solve a problem I kept running into. When editing my videos, creating precise timestamps and chapter markers by hand was incredibly time‑consuming. I wanted a way to generate these automatically while still letting me refine them. My tool uses speech analysis to detect topic changes and outputs a list of timestamps with suggested titles. You can upload or link a video, and it returns a set of chapters that you can tweak before publishing. It’s still early, but I’ve been using it on my own channel and it cut my editing time by more than half. I’m sharing it here because I’d love feedback from other creators and developers. What features would make it more useful? Does the AI get the segments right? Feel free to try it out here: https://autotimestamps.com . I’ll be around in the comments to answer questions. Thanks for checking it out! Comments URL: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=44758979 Points: 1 # Comments:
